Library Mission:
The mission of the library program is to instill a love a reading and teach students life skills they can use to be productive citizens.
Library Program:
Each student will have a half hour library skills class that will sharpen their knowledge of reading comprehension skills, provide book talks and read alouds to encourage reading, and research skills. All classrooms will have a separate day for library checkout.
How many books?
1st Grade: 1 book
2nd Grade: 2 books
3rd Grade: 3 books
Students may check out materials for a period of two weeks. Items may be renewed as needed. However, our library pass system allows your child to come to the library during the day and chose a new book on an as needed basis. Students who do not return their library book will be unable to check out a new book until it has been returned. Overdue notices will be sent out on an as needed basis.
Lost/Damaged Books:
Every year, I teach students that if a book becomes damaged at home they should bring it back right away and tell us what happened. We will not be upset or mad at them. And it is important that children or parents DO NOT try and fix/repair the book at home. We have special materials that I\we use to repair books. If necessary, badly damaged books will be billed to the student's family. Please let Mrs. Molde or Mrs. Johnson knows right away if an item is lost. Sometimes, these missing books have been found at school and returned by someone else. Lost books that can't be found will be billed to the student's family.
